Welcome to Steamboat’s Community Christmas Dinner

It is that time again to coordinate the Steamboat Springs Realtor Communtiy Christmas dinner.  This is my 4th year that I’ve been involved and this year I’m the Chairperson.   Last year we had over 500 friends over for dinner between 2-6.  What an amazing event where our entire community and tourists alike come together to celebrate.  This is not for poor people which is what most think when they see it advertised in the paper and around town.  So many of us have family elsewhere who are unable to be together.  What better place to be, than amongst so many friends.  When my 27 year old daugher came from Tampa to visit and asked what we were doing for Christmas, I told her that we were having 500 people for dinner.  She happily scooped green bean casserole for 3 hours and helped clean up after the party.  So if you are in town and want to be where it is happening, please join us for dinner between 2-6 at the Community Center west of town on U.S. 40 by the SS Transit Center.  We’ll be accepting food donations 1-3 Christmas Eve and after noon on Christmas.  Still need volunteers too, so come and join us.

“not for poor people” – so… no poor people are welcome? Please help me understand!

    Hi Scott,

Thank you for your comment. I have had so many locals and tourists alike say that they didn’t want to attend because they thought it was only for “poor people.” My intent on this post was to let everyone know that ALL are welcome as it is a “Community Dinner.” I spent this past Friday afternoon dropping off fliers to Lift Up food bank and thrift shop, sheriff’s dept, east and west sides of downtown, Sundance, Central park plazas, Library, VNA, YVMC,Dream Island, etc. Hey Scott, if you aren’t doing anything on Christmas, I’d love to have you over for dinner. Still need some volunteers from 6-8 too if you have the time. Please stop by!
