YeeeeHaaaa…Steamboat Finally Has a Saloon!
The exciting Grand opening of the Ghost Ranch Saloon located Downtown on 7th Street between Lincoln and Yampa Streets was this last Friday May 22. It has been at least a decade since Steamboat has had a Saloon. Not one trace of the old “Off the Beaten Path Bookstore” remains in this location. Everything was over the top from the ornate, 1893 Mahogany bar to the 4 VIP rooms, to the lighted dance floor. Denver-based blues band, The Informants played to a packed house. We were lucky to get a place at the bar at 9:00 p.m. but after that it was packed to the max. The 400 person capacity was evident shortly thereafter with a line to get in. Six bartenders were hustling to keep up with the thirsty patrons waiting 4 deep at the bar. I didn’t see anyone with food, so will have to give you an update on that at the later time. It was evident that everyone was having a wonderful time dancing and chatting. I know that we are all happy to have an upscale establishment with live music downtown.
