The 2009-2010 Community Indicators Project report is a comprehensive summary of data that presents the social, economic, civic, and environmental topics in northwest Colorado. It is a culmination of data for Routt, Rio Blanco and Moffat counties. Not unexpectedly, the income from non-labor sources is trending upward in Routt County. This is a national economic trend that is occurring in many resort/lifestyle communities directly related to retirees. This non-labor source of income is approximately 25-30% of all personal income and has been relatively stable for the past 35 years. More direct flights at the Yampa Valley Regional Airport and broadband telecommunications have improved all business capabilities and has also made it possible for location neutral business and location neutral employees to exist and thrive. The number of Commercial deplanements has increased more than 26% over the last 10 years. More interesting Routt County factoids…
Using IRS data, it is possible to estimate the migration into or out of an area. This economic migration has a net economic impact on Routt county. The majority of the migration into northwest Colorado in 2007 was from people moving here from outside of the state. Most of those that moved out of the region, moved to another state.
