Steamboat Weekly SlopeWise Update

This ski season, Steamboat patrol, courtesy patrol and mountain management are enforcing slope safety every day of the season throught the new Steamboat SlopeWise initiative.  Let’s face it, the more days on the hill, the more likely you are to experience a near miss or direct hit.  A SlopeWise tip of the week is published in the paper along with the number of revoked tickets (443 days) and season passes (6) thus far this season. The tip this week is a reminder that on green trails expect to find skiers of all abilities from beginner to expert. When you pass someone who is slower, let them know you are there.  It is your responsibility to avoid others.  Patrollers are watching for anyone whose speed is far greater than those around them.   These tips and enforcement should make our Steamboat slopes safer for all of us.

It IS all about us…Routt County Stats…

The Wild West in SteamboatThe 2009-2010  Community Indicators Project report is a comprehensive summary of data that presents the social, economic, civic, and environmental topics in northwest Colorado.   It is a culmination of data for Routt, Rio Blanco and Moffat counties.  Not unexpectedly, the income from non-labor sources is trending upward in Routt County.  This is a national economic trend that is occurring in many resort/lifestyle communities directly related to retirees.  This non-labor source of income is approximately 25-30% of all personal income and has been relatively stable for the past 35 years.   More direct flights at the Yampa Valley Regional Airport and broadband telecommunications have improved all business capabilities and has also made it possible for location neutral business and location neutral employees to exist and thrive.   The number of Commercial deplanements has increased  more than 26% over the last 10 years.  More interesting Routt County factoids… Read the rest of this entry »

The Buyer’s Market in Steamboat…

Now is the time to take advantage of our Buyer’s Market.  Over the last 4 years we have had record breaking real estate sales activity.  I am very happy to say that my Buyers now have the incredible opportunity to invest in Steamboat Springs at the best time ever for the following reasons.

  1. Lower prices mean you can get more condo/townhome/house for your money.
  2. More homes to choose from.  You can pick the best.
  3. Less competition from other buyers…take your time without bidding wars forcing you to pay more than you want.
  4. Steamboat real estate is the best alternate investment to the stock market.
  5. Rentals in Steamboat are still strong.  Some might even cash flow.
  6. Interest rates are the lowest they’ve been in 30 years.
  7. Owning Steamboat real estate gives you an excuse for you, family and friends to come to Steamboat.

It is important to note that even though 2007 posted over 1 billion dollars in sales, 2008 had a 56% decline which is still the fourth highest amount ever posted in the MLS.  Please let me know if you would like a detailed market analysis emailed to you.
